How much data do you need?

  • A 5–7 day trip with maps, social media and ride-hailing: 5GB/day is plenty.

Can I use a Vietnam eSIM as soon as I land?

Yes. Install the eSIM at home over Wi-Fi, then turn on data roaming when you arrive and you're online immediately. Validity only starts when the eSIM first connects to a network in Vietnam.

Should I pick Viettel, Vinaphone or Mobifone?

Viettel has the widest coverage — best for highlands and islands. Vinaphone is strong in cities and along the coast. Mobifone (SKYFI) is the best value for short city trips. All three are 4G nationwide.

When does the plan's validity start?

When the eSIM first connects to a Vietnamese network, not when you buy it. You can purchase early and install ahead of time.

Do I need to register any documents or a passport?

Which phones support eSIM?

Most phones from 2018 onward: iPhone XS/XR and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20+, Google Pixel 3+ and many others. Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. Dial *#06# — if you see an EID, you're good.

Does it include calls and texts?

It's a data-only plan. You can still call and message over WhatsApp, Zalo, Messenger, iMessage or FaceTime using the data.
