Which plan should I choose?
- Total-data plans: one allowance shared across all covered countries for the whole trip. Best value for maps, messaging and social media.
- Daily data plans: a fresh allowance every day; after it, speed is reduced until the next day.
- Unlimited plans: no data cap at a stated speed (for example 5 Mbps or 10 Mbps), shown on each plan. Good for heavy use and video calls.
Multi-country plan or country plan?
Visiting only one country? A country plan is usually cheaper: China, Hong Kong, Macau.
Tips
- Total-data plans on this page route traffic outside mainland China, so Google, Gmail, WhatsApp and Instagram work there without a VPN. For other plans, check the plan details before you buy.
- Install the eSIM before you fly: many of the sites you would use to set it up are blocked in mainland China.
