Which plan should I choose?

• Total-data plans: one allowance shared across all covered countries for the whole trip. Best value for maps, messaging and social media.
• Daily data plans: a fresh allowance every day; after it, speed is reduced until the next day.
• Unlimited plans: no data cap at a stated speed (for example 5 Mbps or 10 Mbps), shown on each plan. Good for heavy use and video calls.

Multi-country plan or country plan?

Visiting only one country? A country plan is usually cheaper: Australia, New Zealand.

Tips

• Distances are long and rural coverage can be thin: download offline maps before road trips in the Outback or New Zealand's South Island.
• Uber and DiDi work in the main Australian and New Zealand cities and need data.
